The Library Foundation is seeking a philanthropy leader to fill a new fundraising position on our team. We’re looking for someone who shares our passion for public libraries and the vital role they play in making books, education and technology accessible to everyone.
You might currently be a Philanthropy Officer, or a Philanthropy Director, or a Major Gifts Officer. We’re interested in finding the most qualified person who is excited about supporting our mission and contributing to the growth of our organization, while valuing a 35-hour work week and a hybrid work model. Together we’ll craft a title that reflects your experience and the job responsibilities.

About Us
The Library Foundation for Sarasota County was established in the belief that great communities deserve great libraries. Founded in 2011, the Foundation is a non-profit organization that raises private donations to supplement tax support to keep our libraries strong, innovative, and accessible to all. We work closely with the Sarasota County Library System and with the various Friends’ organizations at each library branch. We focus on ways to enhance the library system for everyone in Sarasota.
The mission of the Library Foundation for Sarasota County is to champion strong public libraries, support innovation and help to extend the library system’s reach for everyone in Sarasota County. Our goals are to:
Raise public awareness of the importance of our libraries
Generate private sector financial support to complement public tax funding
Be a proponent for issues that promote the viability of our library system
Location of position: Our office location is 1358 Fruitville Road Suite 310.
Hybrid position, offering 3 days in the office and 2 remote days. The first 90 days are expected to be in the office to facilitate onboarding.
Salary Range: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00, commensurate with experience. This is a full-time position with a 35 hours per week schedule. Benefits include a monthly stipend for Health Reimbursement Arrangement, life and disability insurance, paid time off, paid holidays.

Position Overview
This Philanthropy Leader is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing the annual fundraising plan in support of the Library Foundation’s mission and strategic plan. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the individual in this role provides both strategic expertise and operational support in all areas of development, including annual, major, and planned giving, grants, and fundraising events. S/he develops dynamic fundraising and communications strategies to deepen donor relationships and expand the base of support. S/he collaborates with all foundation constituencies, including staff, board members, donors, library staff and community partners. S/he ensures best practices throughout fundraising operations. The successful candidate thrives being part of a small, multi-faceted team and enjoys wearing multiple hats on any given day.
Qualifications
Passion for libraries and the role they play in fostering a vibrant community.
Demonstrated excellence in organizational, professional, oral, and written communication skills.
Proven record of raising major gifts along with experience in annual fund, events, and some knowledge of planned giving.
Experience in successful fundraising communications, marketing, and public relations.
Excellent interpersonal skills as a leader and team player, at ease with a wide range of constituents.
Entrepreneurial, with high level of personal initiative, integrity, and positive energy.
Proficient with donor management software, including database, communication, and event management programs.
Proficient with Microsoft Office.
Bachelor’s degree and a demonstrated history of progressively successful fundraising experience.
Someone who thrives as a part of a small and hard-working team.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a young but growing non-profit.
Stays current with fundraising best practices and policies.
