Celebrating our New Board President |
Please join us in welcoming Kat Wingert as the new President of our Board of Directors! Kat, Executive Editor and COO of Observer Media Group, has been a dedicated member of our board since 2018, serving as Treasurer since 2022. A lifelong library advocate, she is passionate about increasing awareness of all the resources our library system offers (far beyond books!) and ensuring strong county funding while expanding the Foundation’s support for innovative programs and initiatives.
In Kat’s words: “I’m excited to serve as president of an organization that is focused on strengthening and supporting our libraries, which are such a critical local resource. As a community journalist, I believe in free and open access to information and ideas, as well as the need to bring people together, and there’s no better place that offers these things than our libraries. We have an enviable library system in Sarasota County, and we have so much growth happening within it that it’s a great time for the Library Foundation to grow in tandem to support our librarians in all their important work."

This mobile library reaches those who may not be able to visit traditional brick-and-mortar branches — delivering books, technology, and engaging programs directly to neighborhoods, retirement communities, and beyond. The Library Foundation is proud to have helped bring the Pop-Up Library to Sarasota County. Everyone deserves access to the resources that inspire, inform, and connect us. We’re grateful to the amazing library outreach staff who make that possible. Watch the Pop-Up in action below! |
