Terry Brackett

My Favorite book:
There are so many I love, but one that has oddly stayed with me is “Goodbye Mr. Chips,” by James Hilton.

Why I Serve:
I love books almost as much as I love horses. Growing up as an only child, books became my friends — where I went when I needed an escape. I serve on the Library Foundation Board because I want to give everyone a chance to have the access to books which I had as a child and as an adult.

Terry Brackett, since retiring as an attorney, has been involved with a number of nonprofits, including the Asolo Repertory Theatre, UN Women - USA, Through Women's Eyes International Film Festival, WUSF, and a few others — including the Library Foundation. A native Texan, after graduating law school, Terry moved to Washington, D.C., where she initially worked as a legal advisor to Commissioner Matthew Holden at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Later she joined a law firm in the DC area. She has been an active horseback rider, with a passion for long distance rides.
