My Favorite Book:
"Magic Mountain," by Thomas Mann

Why I Serve:
My love of books began with a childhood bookmobile and continues today through more than 30 years of book club participation. I believe libraries—along with schools, hospitals, and museums—reflect the character of a community. By serving on the Library Foundation board, it's my pleasure to help ensure everyone in Sarasota County has access to books.

I am a semiretired gastroenterologist and have lived in Sarasota for the past 15 years with my wife, Carole Crosby. We have two sons—a dermatologist and an attorney—and two grandchildren. My board service includes Chicago’s Rotary Club of Chicago (Rotary One), the Sarasota Bay Rotary Club, where I served as president, and the Ringling Museum of Art Foundation.
