Why I Serve:
Libraries (and books) were my oasis and escape growing up. A place where everyone is welcome, and you’re allowed to check out virtually anything? It almost seemed too good to be true. These are precious things to protect and preserve in our communities.
Kat Wingert is Executive Editor and Chief Operating Officer of the Observer Media Group, where she oversees editorial content for all of its publications, including the Longboat, Sarasota, East County, Siesta and Business Observers, as well as Season and LWR Life magazines. Wingert, originally from Aurora, Colorado, is a Sarasota resident. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri journalism school and her MBA from the University of Wyoming.
